I have always believed thatin Translating/Interpreting it as important to convey the spirit of the words.

As an executive for various Multintional Industries, including Hermes of Paris, I interfaced in all the many facets of business negotiations: Legal. Contractual, Marketin, Staffing. et. I learned that, quite simply: "Business is communicating ones wishes to another".

It can be Sales, Finance, Corporate Discipline or just a social event. If the liguistic nuances and coltural dictums are not understood the words are not worth much.

One of my clients had spent over aMillion Euros in developing, Printing and mailing a sleek luxurios catalog in English. This glossy vehicle was to highlight not only their products but also the their prestige. It, to use a colloquial "Bombed".

It failed becouse the translators did not have a practicalknowledge of the targeted market nor did they understand the commercial usabe of the language.

Both as an executive and a Private Contractor I have always kept the Communication imperative as my primary goal.
