Portuguese to English: Heaters and treaters (taken from an oil industry manual) General field: Tech/Engineering Detailed field: Petroleum Eng/Sci
Aquecimento do fluxo do poço antes da sua entrada para um tanque de tratamento;
Aquecimento de água de circulação ou de salmouras produzidas naturalmente num sistema de aquecimento de termosifão para um tanque de tratamento;
Aquecimento de petróleo bruto do tanque de armazenamento, antes da bombagem para um pipeline, para forçar a parafina a permanecer em solução, ou para aumentar, por redução da viscosidade, a performance de bombagem;
Dois componentes básicos – um corpo e uma câmara de combustão (os aquecedores indirectos têm um terceiro elemento, que é a serpentina);
Corpo do aquecedor: um depósito pressurizado vertical ou horizontal desenhado para resistir a pressões de 125 psig e fabricado de acordo com o código ASME; está colocado num suporte e tem ligações para entradas, saídas, manómetro, termómetro, controlador de temperatura, permutador, dispositivos de segurança e dreno; no horizontal, a câmara de combustão está instalada lateralmente e, no vertical, uma das pontas está flangeada para a câmara de combustão e a outra fechada com uma cabeça;
Dimensão do equipamento;
Caudal em tratamento.
Translation - English Direct heaters are generally used in multiple oil treatment systems, for example:
The heating of the well flow before it enters a treatment tank;
The heating of brine naturally produced in a thermo-siphon heating system for entry into a treatment tank;
The heating of a storage tank’s crude oil before it is pumped to a pipeline, to force the paraffin to remain as a solution , or to increase, by reducing the viscosity, the pump’s performance;
Heating to wash tanks or for heating and washing of tanks before being transferred to a pipeline.
Normally, the heaters have the following structure::
Two Basic components – a body and a combustion chamber (the indirect heaters have a third component: the coil);
Basic accessories, such as regular burners, regulators, pressure safety valves, thermometers, pressure controllers.
So, the equipment basically consists of a pressurized tank and a combustion chamber:
Heater body: a vertical or horizontal pressurized tank that will resist to pressures of 125 psig and manufactured according to the ASME code; it is fitted on a stand and has various connections to inlets, outlets, gauges, thermometers, temperature controllers, exchangers, safety and drainage devices; horizontally, there is a combustion chamber on the side, and vertically, one of the ends is flanged to the combustion chamber and the other is closed with a head;
Combustion chamber: single or double “U” shaped flame tubes in, from the resistant tubing welded on to the covering plate access door and placed near the heater body above the inlet distributor; it is immersed in the liquid so as to ensure that, by conduction, it transfers heat rapidly through the tube wall in the chamber; all the welded edges comply with approved
procedures and are carefully inspected to ensure high quality and conformity with the ASME code; they are built for a transfer flow with uniform heat lower than on the ones with direct heat to avoid formation problems like coking, hotspots and burnout.
Note that the average time between the inlet and outlet of each fluid is defined as the equipment’s retention time, which will depend on the following aspects:
Size of the equipment;
Flow being treated.

Sinais Psicológicos:
– Nunca tenho tempo suficiente;
– Nunca conseguirei;
– Estou muitas vezes angustiado;
– Tenho muitas vezes um nó na garganta;
– Tornei-me impulsivo/ agressivo/ insatisfeito;
– Estou a perder o gosto pela vida;
– Formigueiro nos membros;
– Cada vez tenho mais doenças;
– Dormir mal e acordar com cansaço de manhã;
– Falta de apetite ou aumento exagerado;
– Sentimentos de fraqueza, impotência;
– Tonturas, dores de cabeça, palpitações;
– Azia e problemas digestivos;
– Problemas de pele (eczema, psoríase, etc.).
Costuma levar trabalho para casa? O tempo nunca lhe chega?

Psychological signs:
– I never have enough time;
– I will not be able to do it;
– Sometimes I feel anxious;
– I sometimes have a knot in my throat;
– I have become impulsive/aggressive/dissatisfied;
– I am losing the joy of living;
– I smoke more and more/ I drink more, in the café or at home;
Physical signs:

Do you usually take work home? Is time never enough?
In the sense of minimizing the collateral damage which can be felt at both a personal and professional level, it would be good to go into and understand where this “epidemic” that stress has become comes from, manifests itself and the best techniques with which to combat it.
