I am an Anglo-Turkish linguist, brought up in a fully bilingual family and environment in the United Kingdom. I have also lived and worked for more than a decade in Turkey so I am steeped in both cultures. However, because the vast majority of my formal education has been in the United Kingdom, I will translate specialised subject matter only into English.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
-A native English speaker, with a degree in English Literature and Language from an excellent British university (The University of Leeds), to translate your projects into natural, flowing British English.
-A background in print and broadcast journalism, so I know my way around news and magazine articles and publications (writing, editing, proof-reading, translating).
-Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, the professional body based in the UK
-Holder of the Diploma in Public Service Interpreting in English Law and registered in the National Register of Public Service Interpreters (NRPSI), which means that I am accredited to interpret and translate within all areas of the British criminal justice system such as Her Majesty’s courts, police constabularies, prisons and probation service.
-Enhanced Criminal Disclosure and a Home Office counter- terrorism check.
AREAS OF SPECIALISATION
I have a particular interest and experience in:
CURRENT AFFAIRS, MEDIA AND JOURNALISM
POLITICS AND GOVERNMENT
I am also comfortable in a wide range of subjects including history, architecture, sociology, archaeology, literature and music, tourism.
I will always deliver to deadline, carefully weighing up the project to factor in word count, subject matter, amount of research required, specialist terminology and give you a reasonable and fair date for completion and delivery. I shall not try to squeeze in rush jobs if speed will mean that the quality of the translation is compromised. I shall not promise you an unrealistic deadline since I believe that this will lead only to disappointment for both sides.
