Areas of expertise
1. Commercial and business texts in the field of COSMETICS (French/English into Dutch) - translation, proofreading and editing
A lot of experience with PR and marketing texts in this field, including for a large French cosmetics brand (over 285K words). This concerns product descriptions, instructions for use, tips and tricks etc. for packaging, websites and newsletters, but also internal communication. For example:
Skin care products: creams, serums, eye creams, cleansers, peels, scrubs, shower gels, body butters, shampoos, hair masks;
Ingredients and their action: repairing, hydrating, calming, anti-aging etc. for the various skin types;
Make-up: foundations, concealers, primers, highlighters, mascaras, lipsticks, eye shadow powders, eye pencils, eyeliners, lip balms, powders and brushes;
Techniques for applying make-up, creating different looks (party, smoky, natural, etc.);
Fragrances: eaux de parfum, eaux de toilette, body mists, ingredients, olfactive families, notes and fragrance perception;
Environmental aspects: eco design of packaging, natural products, parabens, palm oil, mineral oils, phtalates, silicones, animal testing, etc.;
Perception: articles on lifestyle (tips and tricks for relaxation, DIY, healthy food, background stories on the good causes that the company supports, company history);
Treatments in beauty salons;
Internal/business texts: courses and manuals for shop-assistants, settlement of complaints, correspondence with clients, GDPR procedure, etc.
I do not translate texts about fashion or fabrics.
2. Commercial and business texts in general (French into Dutch) - translation, proofreading and editing
I translate business texts as long as they are not (too) medical, technical, chemical or cultural. For example: marketing surveys, pension regulations, terms of employment, conference proceedings, works council minutes, press releases, business presentations, financial results, articles in staff magazines.
3. Legal documents (French into Dutch) - translation
Insurance documents, articles of association, contracts, court decisions and writs of summons, general conditions, birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce settlement agreements, correspondence between lawyers, etc.
I am continuously developing my knowledge of Dutch and French law. In 2019 I completed the course Introduction to law at the Open Universiteit.
