Source text - French L'arrivée du iPhone 4 d’Apple au Canada provoque un engouement d'un bout à l'autre du pays. À Montréal comme à Toronto, des centaines de personnes ont fait la file durant plusieurs heures pour mettre la main sur l’appareil.
Le iPhone 4 a été lancé le mois dernier aux États-Unis, mais plusieurs acheteurs ont constaté qu'ils perdaient le signal lorsqu'ils tenaient leur appareil d'une certaine façon.
Le spécialiste des nouvelles technologies Bruno Guglielminetti précise que l'appareil mis en vente au Canada n'a pas été corrigé. Il est toutefois vendu avec un étui de caoutchouc censé améliorer la réception.
"Le problème d'antenne subsiste toujours, sauf que le modèle qui va être vendu va évidemment venir avec ce que Apple a annoncé, c'est-à-dire la petite couverture qui permet d'éliminer le problème, a-t-il expliqué. C'est une correction qu'on apporte au téléphone (et) je pense qu'il va falloir attendre plutôt quelques mois pour voir l'appareil en version corrigée."
Le grand patron d'Apple, Steve Jobs, ne semble pas s'inquiéter du problème outre mesure et avance qu'il s'agit d'une faille commune à tous les téléphones intelligents.
Translation - English The arrival of Apple’s IPhone 4 in Canada incited frenzy in every corner of the country. In Montreal as well as Toronto, hundreds of people lined up for several hours just to put their hands on the device.
The IPhone 4 was launched last month in the United States, but several consumers have complained that they were losing signal whilst holding their phone in a particular way.
New Technologies Specialist, Bruno Guglielminetti, clarified that the device being sold on the Canadian market had not been properly calibrated. However, it is currently being sold with a rubber case that is expected to improve reception.
“The problem with the antenna still persists except that the new model obviously comes equipped with a casing, as announced by Apple, which will definitely help to eliminate this problem," he explained. "It is an adjustment that will be added to the phone and I think that it will take several months before a new and improved version of the device hits the market.”
The CEO of Apple, Steve Jobs, does not seem too worried about the problem and points out that it is a simple fault which is common to all smart phones.
