Bio
In August 2010, I graduated from Concordia University with a major in creative writing and a specialization in translation from French to English. The translation component of my degree included 60 credits designed to prepare students to translate and essentially write professionally. Within my degree, I had the wonderful opportunity of doing a summer internship with Doctors Without Borders. I am currently an associate member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Nova Scotia.
This year, I have divided my time between freelance translation work and coordinating a creative writing project with Youth Fusion, an award-winning, not-for-profit organization that promotes academic perseverance through extra-curricular activities in Quebec high schools. My most recent translation client is la Fédération étudianté universitaire. Besides that, I have translated for First Robotique Quebec, a robotics program for high school students, as well as L’Arche Canada and L’Arche Internationale, two levels of a world-wide organization for adults with intellectual disabilities. I have also volunteered as a translator and interpreter at some of Montréal’s arts festivals. Among other creative projects, I am just finishing the revision my first full-length novel which I co-wrote with Simon Girard, a Quebecois author who has published three books with Boréal and Leméac. We produced a version in both French and English. We are in the process of presenting the French version to Simon's francophone publisher.
Please see my attached CV for more details. I In order to inform your decision, I would be happy to do a translation test for you.

Sincerely,

Erica Schmidt.
