L’immigration en France est un phénomène ancien : au début du XXe siècle, la France comptait déjà plus d’un million d’immigrés, soit près de 3 % de sa population. La longue tradition d’immigration qui caractérise la France est née de la baisse de la fécondité amorcée au milieu du XVIIIe siècle alors même que le pays s’industrialisait, ce qui accroissait les besoins de main-d’œuvre. Jusqu’à la seconde guerre mondiale, la situation de la France a contrasté avec celle de la plupart des autres pays européens qui connaissaient fécondité élevée et émigration.
L’État intervient pour la première fois en 1919, afin de remédier à la pénurie de main-d’œuvre due à la guerre. Lorsque le conflit s’achève, la population active française a subi des pertes considérables : 1,4 million d’hommes jeunes ont été tués ou sont invalides. Aussi les années vingt seront-elles marquées par une immigration massive. De 1919 à 1930, le gouvernement français conclut des conventions d’immigration avec plusieurs pays européens, mais une grande partie des arrivées est assurée par des organismes privés auxquelles s’ajoutent des entrées irrégulières.
Translation - English 1.6 A HISTORY OF IMMIGRATION IN FRANCE
Immigration in France is not a new phenomenon. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were already more than one million immigrants in France, representing 3% of the total population. France has been characterised by a long tradition of immigration, which was born out of necessity in the mid-1700s due to the low birth-rate during the industrial revolution. A greater workforce was therefore required. Until World War II, France’s situation contrasted with that of the majority of other European countries which had high birth-rates and high levels of emigration.
In 1919, following World War I, the State intervened for the first time to address the problem of an insufficient workforce. The working population in France suffered significant losses during the conflict. As many as 1.4million young men were killed or left permanently disabled, which is why the 1920s were characterised by large-scale immigration. From 1919 to 1930, the French government concluded Conventions on immigration with several European countries, but many of the arrivals, including those of an illegal nature, were assisted by private organizations.

El Contratista garantiza que todos los equipos y herramientas que se empleará serán los suficientes, adecuados y estarán en perfectas condiciones de funcionamiento y operación para la ejecución de las Obras el Contratista garantiza que los equipos y herramientas a utilizar serán de marcas de reconocida reputación y segura procedencia.
El Contratista garantiza además que todos los materiales e insumos que deberá proveer en virtud del presente Contrato, estarán en conformidad con los planos, especificaciones u otras descripciones entregados por el Mandante o proporcionados por el Contratista y aprobados por el Mandante y que éstos serán nuevos, libres de defectos, aptos y suficientes para los fines propuestos y que cumplirán satisfactoriamente las condiciones de uso establecidas, todo lo anterior de acuerdo a lo definido en este Contrato y en los Anexos a los que se hace referencia en el mismo. La información entregada por el Mandante deberá ser analizada y validada por el Proveedor de modo de cumplir con los requerimientos y objetivos del Contrato.
Producida una pérdida, deterioro o destrucción parcial o total sobre algún bien y/o equipo, accesorio, herramienta material y/o cualquier otro elemento de propiedad del Contratista, este deberá dar aviso inmediato por escrito al Mandante y proceder inmediatamente a su reparación o reemplazo en forma aceptable para el Mandante.
Translation - English To carry out the Work, the Contractor will be responsible for providing the necessary equipment and tools, and it will also assume full responsibility for hiring all the workers who will help to complete the work.
The Contractor guarantees that all equipment and tools which will be used will be sufficient, suitable and in perfect working and operational order for the purpose of the Work. The Contractor also undertakes to ensure that the equipment and tools will be of a reputable brand which boasts a proven safety record.
The Contractor further undertakes to ensure that all materials and instruments, which are to be supplied by virtue of this Agreement, comply with the plans, specifications or any other descriptions submitted by the Principal or provided by the Contractor and approved by the Principal, and that they will be new, flawless, suitable and sufficient for the proposed purposes and that they will satisfactorily comply with the conditions of use set forth, all of which will be in accordance with the provisions established in this Agreement and the Appendices referred to thereof. The information provided by the Principal must be assessed and validated by the Provider so that all Agreement requirements and purposes are fulfilled.
If there is loss, deterioration or partial/total destruction to any items and/or equipment, accessories, tools, materials and/or any other element belonging to the Contractor, the Contractor must provide written notification to the Principal with immediate effect and action to repair or replace this element must be undertaken immediately to the satisfaction of the Principal.

I am a professional translator/interpreter and I completed a Masters Degree at the University of Bath in 2010 in translation and interpreting. Since that time, I have worked as a freelance translator for a reputable construction company and several agencies based in Spain, France and England and I also spent six months working as an in-house translator for a company based in Madrid. This experience has enabled me to develop all the skills necessary to produce professional and efficient translations, such as those related to time management, attention to detail, organisation and communication.
