Soy de Estados Unidos. Mis padres son hispanos y, aunque mi lengua materna es inglés, utilizaba el español en mi hogar. Como es lógico, la traducción requiere el dominio de los dos idiomas. El hecho de haber hablado español desde mi infancia y estar afincado en España desde hace 16 años me permite tener un nivel óptimo del idioma de partida (español) contribuyendo a que la traducción al idioma materno (inglés) sea fiel al texto original.
En Estados Unidos trabajaba de agente inmobiliario, llegando a adquirir mi propia licencia de Broker. También pude realizar trabajos como traductor y llevé a cabo doblajes en radio y televisión. Comprendo cómo funciona la economía, la Bolsa y el análisis técnico del mercado de valores.
Me mantengo al día con los idiomas y los estilos que se utilizan en el habla y en el negocio. Incluyo en mi rutina diaria la lectura de libros, revistas y la prensa como Cinco Días (España), El País (España), Investor´s Business Daily (EEUU) y The Economist (Inglaterra).
I am a native English speaker from the United States with a hispanic background. Hence, I grew up speaking two languages. I have been living in Spain since 1995. Being a native speaker of the target language and having a command of the source language is essential to translate correctly. Living in Spain gives me the opportunity to hear the source language on a daily basis.
Before coming to Spain, I worked as a Real Estate Broker in the United States. Hence, real estate terminology is second nature to me. Too, I did translation as well as radio and television voice over acting. I am familiar with the economy, stock market and stock market technical analysis.
Being an avid reader helps me to stay abreast of languages and the writing styles used in different fields. I include in my daily routine the reading of books, magazines and newspapers such as Cinco Días (Spain), El País (Spain), Investor´s Business Daily (United States), and The Economist (England). |
