Bio

I have over 10 years of experience as a full-time freelance Japanese-to-English translator, proofreader and language consultant. I specialize in sustainability (people, planet, profit/purpose) and social responsibility. I provide both technical and strategic translation, helping my clients craft a message that is accurate and culturally appropriate (localized) for the target audience.

The high quality of my work is built on 9 years equivalent of formal language and translation study, 5 years of living in Japan, and 2 years working as an in-house interpreter and translator before becoming a freelancer. I look forward to working with you! Let me know how I can help.

TECHNICAL TRANSLATION

- Emphasis on completeness and accuracy through literal or direct meaning

- Closely follows the structure and style of the Japanese document

STRATEGIC TRANSLATION

- My specialty and the style of translation I enjoy doing most, based on techniques I’ve honed through a decade of translating reports for global Japanese brands

- A combination of technical translation and copyediting, with emphasis placed on accuracy AND maximizing the intended effect of the final product

- Follows but is not bound by the structure and style of the Japanese, which are culturally influenced

- The result is stand-alone writing that not only informs but also inspires, persuades, or motivates readers

Whether your translation project requires a technical approach, strategic approach, or some combination of the two, I will collaborate with you to make sure the translation meets your needs and goals.
