Bachelor's degree - Eastern Illinois University
Years of translation experience: 15. Registered at ProZ.com: Feb 2011.
I have lived and taught in France for 6 years. Prior to that I was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. I attended Eastern Illinois University where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with a French minor. In 2003 I moved to France where I had the privilege of working as an English assistant at the Lycée Jean Moulin near Bordeaux. Shortly afterward I decide to take the plunge and dedicate myself to teaching. I took and passed the CAPES exam and began teaching English in the French public school system.
Since 2007 I have been teaching English as a second language at Jean Jaurès Middle School in Montfermeil, France. This school is in a suburb of Paris which has a reputation for being complex but very representative of French youth. Today I wish to change my career path and translating, which is something I have always done since my days at Eastern Illinois University, seems like a natural fit for me.
