I was raised in two countries and in two languages. After receiving my diploma from a Dutch Secondary school, I went to the English-taught University College Utrecht in the Netherlands, where I earned a BA Social Sciences. After an internship with a German non-governmental organisation in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, I followed a Masters International Development Studies at Utrecht University, for which I did six months of research in Hyderabad, India.
Back in the Netherlands, I quickly realised during my work as a secretary for an international law firm and later as a management assistant for a Dutch non-governmental organisation, that I thoroughly enjoyed the writing, editing and translating of texts. As I have always loved reading, and did so a lot, in both Dutch and English, fiction and non-fiction, I developed (and continue to develop) accurate language skills in both these languages. These are invaluable for my work as a translator and editor!
