Ekologisk bomull odlas utan kemiska bekämpningsmedel och konstgödsel, och innehåller heller inga genmodifierade organismer (GMO). Det är skonsammare för odlarna, miljön och för dig. Ekologisk bomull kräver även mindre vattenåtgång jämfört med konventionell bomull. Vår ekologiska bomull är GOTS-certifierad vilket betyder att den är kontrollerad i alla led av GOTS, som är ett oberoende certifieringsorgan.

All textile materials have an impact on the environment, but there are certain materials that are better from a sustainability perspective. They are materials that are kinder on people and the environment, and which last longer too. Increasing the proportion of sustainable materials is an important step in Indiska's long-term sustainability work. We consider certified materials, recycled materials and natural materials of particularly high quality, which we call Premium Quality, to be our more sustainable materials.

Organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown without chemical pesticides or fertilizers, and it does not contain any GMOs (genetically modified organisms). It is kinder on the farmers, on the environment and on you. Organic cotton requires even less water than conventional cotton. Our organic cotton is GOTS certified, which means it is inspected at every stage by GOTS, an independent certification body.

Det är inte alla som tänker på det eftersom öarna inte är utmärkta på de kartblad som finns i en vanlig skolatlas. Men tittar man på en detaljerad karta så ser det nästan ut som om man skulle kunna ta sig torrskodd över havet. Det är naturligtvis inte möjligt. Men där finns tiotusentals öar. Några hundra av dessa har en befolkning som är bosatt året runt. Åtskilliga fler har sommarhus och hamnar.

Not everyone thinks about this, as the islands are not marked out on the maps found in a standard school atlas. Svenska soldater beordrades halshugga infångade snapphanar och sätta upp deras huvud på pålar längs med vägarna, som varningar till andra. Trots dessa fruktansvärda bestraffningar fortsatte snapphanarnas motståndsaktioner som snarare tilltog än mattades av.
Blodtörstigt skogsfolk eller rättfärdiga patrioter? Vilka var de egentligen, dessa mytomspunna gerillakrigare och snapphanar i gränsbygd?
Ända sedan vikingatiden hade Skåne, Halland och Blekinge varit under danskt styre. Men efter fredsförhandlingar i Roskilde 1658 fick Danmark överlämna dessa områden till Sverige. Befolkningen fortsatte att leva efter sina gamla privilegier, men provinserna skulle försvenskas snabbt. Motståndarnas skara började växa och risken för uppror och överfall ökade i de gamla gränstrakterna.
Under de dansk-svenska krigen på 1600-talet blev benämningen snapphane ett sätt för svenskarna att visa att de inte såg sina skånska motståndare som ”riktiga soldater”, utan snarare som rövarpack, bråkstakar och simpla bönder. En vanlig tolkning är att namnet kommer från det tyska ordet ”schnappen”, som betyder snappa bort, röva.

Swedish soldiers were ordered to cut the heads off captured Snapphane soldiers and impale their heads on poles set up along the roads, as a warning to others. Despite these terrible punishments, the Snapphane Movement’s actions continued and increased rather than abated.
Blood thirsty forest-dwellers or justified patriots? Which were they really, these mythical guerrilla warriors and Snapphane of the borderlands?
Ever since the Viking Age, Skåne, Halland and Blekinge had been under Danish rule. But after peace negotiations in Roskilde in 1658, Denmark was to hand these areas over to Sweden. The people continued to live according to their old privileges, but the provinces were to become Swedish fast. Resistance groups started to grow and the risk of revolts and attacks increased in the old borderlands.
Under the Danish-Swedish wars of the 17th century, the title Snapphane became a way for the Swedes to show that they did not see the Skåne resistance groups as ‘real soldiers’, rather as thieves, troublemakers and simple peasants. A common interpretation of the name comes from the German word ‘schnappen’, which means to snatch away, to steal.

After having worked as a Swedish to English translator and British copywriter for the past 15 years, specialising in marketing and advertising copy, all of a sudden I found myself translating journalism and literature.
