Inspiration vs. Perspiration

Writing can be 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration - or any variation of that, like 1 percent inspiration and 1 percent perspiration. So is translation.

If you have gotten a writing for cheap, 2 or 4 cents per word will do it, when it comes to save a lot of money. Cheap translations are always available. And, yes, you can cross your fingers.

If you are serious about disseminating ideas or messages abroad, about reaching your prospective audience properly, you will be better off with a translator who is willing to "perspire" for you.

In other words, you may want to get native writers to do your translations, as you have hired a good writer to express well your ideas.

Inexpensive, not cheap

I have a few good clients. They understand that. Therefore, they are faithful to me, and they pay me well.

The good news for them (and for you) is that the translation market has gotten so crowded – lots of people who are native speakers, not necessarily professionals, are adventuring into this field - that “paying well” for a translation by a good writer is still inexpensive.
