In its fifth edition, entijuanarte | creative border takes the risk and dares to do something never done before: bringing together classical music with electronic music.
The main characters: Nortec Collective Presents Bostich Fussible and the Orchestra of Baja California.
The set: Francisco Javier Mina Street and Paseo de los Héroes Ave, at Zona Rio, Tijuana´s heart.
The repertoire: Musical successes that have been taken to international scenarios by Nortec with musical arrangements made for the orchestra.
If you think this is exciting, let us give you more details that will allow us make of this, a big concert that will mark a new era in Tijuana’s music for the world.
Big musicians
Why will this concert be great and historic?, What is special about the blending of these two awesome groups.
The answers are simple: first, because it will be the first time that Nortec Collective and the Orchestra of Baja California will get together in a same stage, not as accompaniment, but to literally mix their sounds.
Because, Alberto Nunez Palacio, master, composer and musical arranger is already working, so, the Bostich and Fussible themes can be played by the Orchestra, under the Ivan del Prado’s direction.
These are just some of the reasons for why the entijuanarte09’s closing night will be something to remember.
On the other hand, this union will allow the creation of a new public for a new musical fusion.
Ivan del Prado predicted it that way, in one of the meetings with the arranger and the collective’s members.
The public will realize that listening to an orchestra can be dynamic and surprising because of the versatility that offers, he said.
On the other hand, Bostich said that he feels a special emotion for what will be achieved with this production that is being prepared day to day.
Nuñez Palacio also let us know that his passion for music is universal and that he is not afraid of new technologies, although is a new challenge for him, he has enough experience and passion to take the risk with a musical experiment that will get people’s attention and, where Sinaloa’s band chords will be special guests.
Two different styles, one same passion.
Although it seems that Nortec Collective and the Orchestra of Baja California don’t have too much in common, that’s not really true, because they share several experiences in their histories.
Some of them are that they both came out from Tijuana; they both have played in the Bellas Artes Palace’s stage, both have made vibe thousands of people at the Cervantino International Festival (International Cervantes Culture Festival); both have been nominated to the Latin Grammy, and, more importantly, they share the passion for music that have spread to millions of followers in well known national and international stages around the world, and, the curious fact that they both came up in the nineties decade.
Their versatility is something else that makes them similar; both of them have been always open to innovate, mix, experiment, and, over all, do what their musician’s heart dictates them.
ABOUT:
Orchestra of Baja California
The Orchestra of Baja California is one of the most prestigious and solid artistic institutions of northwestern Mexico. Its current headquarters is the Tijuana Cultural Center, it was founded in 1990 by Juan Echeverria and Eduardo Garcia Barrios, and it’s defined as a soloist’s ensemble that play all musical genres, from baroque to modern music, in all of its combinations, from chamber music to symphony music.
On 2001, the Orchestra of Baja California was nominated to the Latin Grammy in the best classic album category by the Latin Academy of Arts and Recording Sciences, Inc., with the Tango mata Danzon mata tango album.
This phonogram was honored as Best Classic Album of 2001 by the Mexican Union of Music and Theater’s Broadcasters.
The orchestra played for the first time at Palacio de Bellas Artes on August 21st, 2003 with a varied repertoire that showed its versatility and that included a few pieces of this album.
The same year, the OBC accompanied the Italian Tenor Luciano Pavarotti in a concert that was internationally broadcasted from the Laguna Salada’s desert celebrating the 100th year anniversary of the city of Mexicali’s foundation.
On April 21st , 2004, the Orchestra was designated as - in a State Congress solemn session- Baja California’s cultural ambassador.
Nortec Collective
Fussible (Pepe Mogt), Bostich (Ramon Amezcua)
Nortec, as well as the name of a contemporary sound type, is mainly a music collective created in Tijuana, Mexico, which goal is the production of electronic music, mixed with northern folk music and Sinaloa’s band sounds. Nortec is also known as Nortec Collective and, each member works in separate projects.
The Nortec sound started in 1999 when Pepe Mogt, tired of following foreign musical trends, started experimenting with an old Sinaloa’s band samples and northern folk music’s albums, altering the sounds in his hard drive and thru analogical synthesizer filters.
Pepe started to compile tracks of the above-mentioned music that would hand out among his friends to start the experimentation with those sounds as a starting point.
On the condition that these tracks were the base to create a new piece, several local musicians participated in this announcement, which started Nortec.
On January of 2009 the “Tijuana Sound Machine” by Bostich Fussible was nominated to the International Grammy in the “Best Latin Alternative Album” category.
Nortec merged electronic and Mexico’s northern popular music to obtain a unique sound, that is already not just a border musical emblem, but a whole generation musical emblem.

En su quinta edición entijuanarte frontera creativa toma el riesgo y se atreve a hacer algo sin precedentes: fusionar música clásica con música electrónica.
Los protagonistas: Nortec Collective Bostich Fussible y la Orquesta de Baja California.
El escenario: la calle Francisco Javier Mina esquina con Paseo de los héroes, en el corazón de la Zona Río de Tijuana.
El repertorio: éxitos llevados a escenarios internacionales por Nortec con arreglos para orquesta.
Si esto parece ya emocionante habrá que agregar más detalles que permitirán hacer de este un concierto que marque una nueva historia en la música de Tijuana para el mundo.
Grandes de la música
Pero, ¿Por qué este será un concierto grandioso e histórico?, ¿Qué tiene de especial la fusión de estas dos grandes agrupaciones?
Las respuestas son sencillas: la primera, porque será la primera ocasión en la que Nortec Collective y la Orquesta de Baja California se unan en un solo escenario, no para acompañarse musicalmente sino para fusionarse literalmente.
Y es que el maestro, compositor y arreglista Alberto Núñez Palacio trabaja ya en los arreglos para que los temas de Bostich y Fussible sean interpretados por la Orquesta bajo la dirección musical del maestro Iván Del Prado.
Estas son sólo algunas razones por las que la noche de cierre de entijuanarte 09 marcará historia.
Por otro lado, esta fusión permitirá la formación de un nuevo público para una nueva fusión musical.
Iván Del Prado así lo auguró en una de las reuniones con el arreglista y los integrantes del colectivo.
La gente verá que escuchar a una orquesta puede ser sorpresivo y dinámico por la versatilidad que se ofrece, explicó.
Por su parte Bostich dijo sentir una emoción especial por lo que se obtendrá con esta producción cuyas preparaciones avanzan cada día.
Núñez Palacio también dejó ver que su pasión por la música es universal y que no le teme a las nuevas tecnologías pues aunque son un gran reto él cuenta con la experiencia necesaria y con la emoción suficiente para arriesgarse a un experimento musical que dará mucho de qué hablar y donde además los acordes de la banda sinaloense vendrán a ser invitados especiales.
Dos estilos, una sola pasión
Aunque pareciera que Nortec Collective y la Orquesta de Baja California no tienen mucho en común, esto no es del todo cierto ya que comparten en su historia varias experiencias.
Algunas de ellas son el hecho de que ambas surgen en Tijuana; han pisado el escenario del Palacio de Bellas Artes; han hecho vibrar a miles como invitados en el Festival Internacional Cervantino; comparten la emoción de haber sido nominados a los premios Grammy; y sobre todo comparten la pasión por la música misma que han contagiado a millones de seguidores en escenarios de renombre nacional e internacional, además de que curiosamente ambos surgieron en la década de los noventa.
Su versatilidad es otra cosa que los hace similares pues ambos se han mostrado abiertos a innovar, mezclar, experimentar y sobre todo a hacer lo que su corazón de músicos les dicta.

Orquesta de Baja California
Es una de las instituciones artísticas más prestigiadas y sólidas del noroeste de México. Con sede actual en el Centro Cultural Tijuana, fue fundada en 1990 por los maestros Juan Echeverría y Eduardo García Barrios y se define como un ensamble de solistas que interpretan música de todos los géneros, desde el barroco hasta música de nuestros días, y en todas las combinaciones, desde el repertorio de cámara hasta la música sinfónica.
En el 2001 la Orquesta de Baja California fue nominada al Grammy Latino en la categoría de mejor álbum clásico por la Academia Latina de Artes y Ciencias de la Grabación Inc., con el disco Tango mata Danzón mata Tango.
Este fonograma fue distinguido como Mejor Álbum Clásico del año 2001, por la Unión Mexicana de Cronistas de Teatro y Música.
El 21 de agosto del 2003 la agrupación actuó por primera vez en el Palacio de Bellas Artes, con un variado repertorio que mostró su versatilidad, y que incluía algunas piezas de este disco.
Ese mismo año la OBC acompañó al tenor italiano Luciano Pavarotti durante un concierto transmitido a nivel internacional desde el desierto de la Laguna Salada, con motivo del centenario de la fundación de la ciudad de Mexicali.
El 21 de abril de 2004, la Orquesta fue designada -en sesión solemne del Congreso del Estado- Embajadora cultural del Estado de Baja California.

Nortec, demás de ser el nombre de un tipo de sonido contemporáneo, es principalmente un colectivo de música formado en la ciudad de Tijuana en México, cuyo objetivo es la realización de música electrónica mezclada con música norteña y sonidos de la banda sinaloense. Nortec es también conocido como Nortec Collective y cada integrante realiza proyectos por separado.
El sonido Nortec inició en 1999 cuando Pepe Mogt, cansado de seguir tendencias musicales extranjeras, empezó a experimentar con samples de una vieja banda sinaloense y de discos norteños, alterando los sonidos en su disco duro y a través de los filtros de sintetizadores analógicos.
Pepe empezó a compilar tracks de dicha música, mismos que repartiría entre sus amigos para comenzar la experimentación con esos sonidos como punto de partida.
Con la condición de que estas pistas fueran la base para crear una pieza nueva, varios músicos locales participaron en esta convocatoria, lo cual dio principio a Nortec.
En Enero de 2009 el álbum "Tijuana Sound Machine" de Bostich Fussible fue nominado al Grammy Internacional en la categoría de "mejor álbum alternativo latino".
Nortec fusionó la electrónica con la música popular del norte de México, para conseguir un sonido único, que ya se convirtió en emblema musical no sólo de la frontera, si no de una generación entera.

1.1.1 Transportation Planning
Access to the project area is not convenient. Existing unpaved road only reaches from the the township of EL Pangui via ferry over Rio Zamora to approximately 0.5km downstream of the powerhouse. Only trails connect the powerhouse with the dam site. The Zamora bridge is under construction by the Client. No ship or railway is available for the transportation to the project.
The heavy piece of equipment is the main transformer and will be handled with low-bed truck. The existing bridges may require reinforcement to meet the loading requirements. The bulk large piece of equipment is the crane in the powerhouse.
A new road shall be constructed starting from the tail of the existing unpaved road, running nearby the powerhouse and the surge shaft, and ending at the dam site, all on the left, as suggested by ASTEC and the Client. Three adits providing construction access to the the headrace tunnel shall be provided in order to shorten the tunneling time. The #1 adit is close to the dam site, #3 to the surge shaft, and #2 near the middle of the headrace tunnel. A branch road from the mouth of adit #2 is necessary for the haul of spoiled materials from the tunnel excavation to the #1 spoil area on the right bank of Rio Machinatza via a temporary Bailey bridge. The selection of the #1 spoil field shall be further studied by ASTEC and confirmed with the Client.

El acceso al área del proyecto no es óptimo. La carretera sin pavimentar existente sólo abarca del municipio de El Pangui, utilizando el transbordador sobre el Río Zamora hasta aproximadamente 0.5km aguas abajo de la casa de máquinas. Solo pequeños senderos conectan la casa de máquinas con la presa. E cliente se encuentra construyendo el Puente Zamora. No hay buque o ferrovía disponible para accesar a este proyecto.
La pieza más pesada del equipo es el transformador principal y será manipulado con un camión de cama baja. Los puentes ya existentes podrían requerir ser reforzados para reunir los requisitos de carga. La pieza de mayor volumen del equipo es la grúa en la casa de máquinas
Se construirá una nueva carretera, empezando por el camino de la existente carretera sin pavimentar, que empezará cerca de la casa de máquinas y la chimenea de equilibrio, y terminará en la presa, todo del lado izquierdo, como lo sugirió ASTEC y el cliente. Tres zanjas proveyendo acceso de la construcción al túnel de aducción se proveeran para reducir el tiempo de tunelado. La zanja #1 se encuentra cerca a la presa, la #3 a la chimenea de equilibrio, y la #2 cerca del medio del túnel de aducción. Una ramificación de la carretera de la boca de la zanja #2 es necesaria para el transporte de los materiales de desecho del túnel de excavación hacia el área de desechos #1 a la orilla del Río Machinatza, por medio de un puente prefabricado temporal. La selección del campo de desechos #1 deberá ser estudiada por ASTEC y confirmada por el cliente.
