Professional translations by a professional linguist (PhD)
I'm a linguist by profession (MA and PhD in linguistics from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London; PostDoc in phonetics at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg).
I am a well-educated native speaker of German and have lived, studied and worked in English-speaking countries for about 15 years. I wrote both my MA dissertation and my PhD thesis in English and passed the viva for my PhD degree "without corrections".
From 2002 to 2006 I was a university lecturer in linguistics at the University of the Witwatersrand, where I was promoted to Associate Professor and also served as the Head of Linguistics.
I specialize in linguistics, philosophy (including the philosophy of science), IT (especially programming and anything TeX), theology, religion, and spirituality, food and recipes, and music as well as fantasy and sci-fi literature. In addition to that, I have translated marketing texts, newsletters, mobile-phone programming manuals, and legal contracts.
I offer translations as well as editorial work and proofreading.
As a sideline, I also invent languages (conlangs and international auxiliary languages).
