English to Dutch: Global Strategic Plan of NGO General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: International Org/Dev/Coop
Source text - English The organization’s health work has shown that people with ID are consistently left out of health systems that are ill-equipped to diagnose and treat them. This leads to massive inequities – much shorter life spans, severe pain and inability to fully participate in society. And it directly impedes our vision of inclusion through sport, as any athlete needs to be healthy to compete at their best. Data indicate that 60.2% of adult athletes are obese or overweight, 22.4% of have never had an eye exam, 14.4% have mouth pain and 26.4% fail hearing screenings.
All strong sports programs focus on the health and fitness of their athletes to enable them to compete at their best. Athletes who can finally see the ball clearly, hear their coach properly or are no longer overweight can compete to their full potential. We will expand our health programs to continue addressing these and other needs, working with partners and health care systems to put more emphasis on follow up treatment, create much greater access to health care for our athletes, and directly contribute to our mission of developing physical fitness and supporting active participation in sports and society.

Source text - English PURE NATURE?
How nature processes plastics
Everybody has seen it: the picture of marine animals that mistake plastic trash with food and thus suffer a tragic death. Also on beaches and on streets one finds plastic bags, food packaging, and Styrofoam cups that will take decades to decompose. That is, unless they are properly disposed of and converted into reusable plastics by means of recycling processes. Plastic in our oceans and on land is also dangerous for humans: due to friction, the effects on ultraviolet radiation and evaporating plasticizers makes plastic trash disintegrate into smaller and smaller parts. The tiny plastic micro-particles are then eaten by animals and by the end of the food chain they land right on our dinner table.
TASK 1: Try to develop a compost system together with your biology teacher. Conduct an experiment in a 1.5 litter bottle and see how quickly paper towels, banana peels, chewing gum, plastic, and other substances decompose in organic waste.
TASK 2: Due to the fact that people want to use plastic shopping bags "once in a while" to bring their groceries home, the material is here to stay. It takes many decades for plastic to biologically decompose.
Think about other alternatives for items made from plastic. What tools and materials do you need to avoid using plastic altogether?

I specialize in website and software localization and the translation of texts pertaining to education, the humanities and social sciences.
In September 2015, I obtained the Diploma in Translation with merit, and two years before that I completed the Postgraduate Certificate course in Principles and Practice of Translation at City University in London, UK. Together with my master's degree in Intercultural Communication, this means that I possess the practical skills and academic knowledge to ensure a high quality of my translations.
Since 2009, I have also been active as an English teacher. Consecutively living in Istanbul, London, Beijing and now in Istanbul again, I have worked and lived with native speakers of English from many countries where it is the first language. This has given me a lot of insight into the many varieties of English as well as cultural knowledge of each English-speaking community. Since I am a native speaker of Dutch and a national of the Netherlands, I have excellent knowledge of both my source and target languages and cultures.
Since 2015, I have translated documents for several NGOs through the Rosetta Foundation, including the Special Olympics organization and the Foundation for Environmental Education. I have also localized a number of applications and websites for independent developers. In addition, I have worked gained translation experience through Unbabel and Gengo.
Please download my CV through the link above for more information. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have are interested in working with me or have any questions.
