Source text - English I read a poll in the newspaper once that said the numberone
fear of Americans aged eighteen to sixty-five is public
speaking. Spiders are second, and death a distant third.
I’m afraid of all these things. But most of all, I’m afraid of
I’m no coward. I want to make that perfectly clear. But my
life turned from nearly perfect to a horror movie in a matter
of days, so I take fear a lot more seriously now.
I’d followed my life plan almost to the letter, with very few
detours. I’d gone from plain old Ms. Carrie Ames to Dr. Carrie
Ames just eight months prior to the night I now refer to
as “The Big Change.” I’d broken away from the sleepy, East
Coast town I’d grown up in, only to find myself in a sleepy,
mid-Michigan city. I had a great residency in the E.R. of the
public hospital there. The city and surrounding rural communities
provided endless opportunity to study and treat injuries
inflicted by both urban warfare and treacherous farm
A velha Carrie Ames dera lugar à Dra.

I am a freelance translator for 5 years and I have completed 36 projects of literary translation to this day.
Besides the attested experience on the literary area, and although this was actually my one full time activity on the past 5 years, I’m also an experienced translator of commercial and technical English/French, as a result of my prior experience as sales/marketing assistant, from 1982 to 2006, during which period I was very often commissioned for extra translation work.
My priority is to keep working on literary (or journalistic translation) projects but at this stage I’m fully available for technical and commercial translation as well. As a versatile translator, I'm also willing to accept translations related with any of my areas of interest.
Translating from Portuguese into English is also an option.
