CV/Resume English (DOCX)
I am a native speaker of American English, having been born and raised in California, USA. Currently I am enrolled as an undergraduate student at Utah State University in Logan, UT, USA. I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with minors in Math, Japanese, and Chinese (Mandarin). I have also been noted by professors as having excellent writing skills in English. I have been working as a full-time translator for over 6 months.

I hold a minor in Japanese, which includes over a decade of studying the language, beginning with a community college course while still in high school, a year at a Japanese language school in my local community, and three years of university level courses. I did take a few years off from my formal studies due to events in my personal life such as marriage, children, etc. but continued studying the language independently. As part of a cultural exchange through Lions Club International shortly after finishing my first year of college, I also spent several months living with hosts families in Kushiro and Yokohama, Japan.

I also hold a minor in Mandarin Chinese, having studied for over 3 years at my local University, including 5 semesters of formal university level classes here in the U.S. and an in-depth study abroad program in Xi'an, China for 2-1/2 months, completed in August 2012. Since then, I have continued studying the language intensively on my own. I have an equivalent knowledge of both Traditional and Simplified Chinese, having studied both forms simultaneously. My knowledge of Japanese Kanji has also strengthened my familiarity with the Characters, as they are of Chinese origin.

Finally, I would like to illustrate some areas in which I have a bit of expertise outside of just the languages themselves that may also prove useful. As an Engineering student pursuing a math minor, I have spent significant time studying in the hard sciences, specifically regarding math and physics concepts, including multi-variable calculus, linear algebra, ordinary differential equations, mechanics, thermodynamics, wave and particle theory, and electricity.

Additionally, I have spent the last 6 years continuously working as a machine operator and final production worker at an electronics manufacturer specializing in electronic LED billboards, and am intimately familiar with the many machines used in that industry, including the radial, wave solder, hand solder, decontamination washer, coating, sealing, calibration, and surface mount machines.
