Source text - English This is a book about motivation. I will show that much of what we believe about the subject just isn’t so— and that the insights that Harlow and Deci began uncovering a few decades ago come much
closer to the truth. The problem is that most businesses haven’t caught up to this new understanding of what motivates us. Too many
organizations— not just companies, but governments and nonprofits as well— still operate from assumptions about human potential and
individual performance that are outdated, unexamined, and rooted more in folklore than in science. They continue to pursue practices
such as short-term incentive plans and pay-for- performance schemes in the face of mounting evidence that such measures usually don’t
work and often do harm. Worse, these practices have infiltrated our schools, where we ply our future workforce with iPods, cash, and pizza coupons to “incentivize” them to learn. Something has gone wrong.

Source text - English Following its answer to the written question E-007092/2012, the Commission has since
announced that it will not be updating the EU Alcohol Strategy, despite the fact that alcohol
consumption is a contributing factor for over 60 diseases and disorders, and Europe has the
highest rates of consumption of alcohol in the world (12.5 litres per capita). In addition, it is
estimated that €155 billion of the social costs attributable to alcohol in Europe, including
traffic accidents, absenteeism and lost productivity in the workplace, are associated with
alcohol dependence. Alcohol is the world’s number one risk for ill-health and premature death
amongst the 25-59 year old age group, a core of the working age population.

uuendata, vaatamata asjaolule, et alkoholitarbimine soodustab üle 60 haiguse ja tervisehäire teket ja et Euroopas on alkoholitarbimise tase maailma kõrgeim (12,5 liitrit elaniku kohta).
