English translator who has worked in Portugal for twenty-five years.
I have worked primarily in a legal setting, for law firms and for Portuguese and European institutions, including the Portuguese Parliament and the Ministry of Justice.
A central focus of my work has been translating into English legislation from Portugal, Angola and Mozambique. This has ranged from constitutional law to tax law (including tax codes) and environmental law. I have also developed special expertise in the oil & gas sector, translating government regulations, environmental studies and production contracts, to give just a few examples.
In the financial sector, I have regularly translated annual reports and other documents for banks and insurance companies.
As a sideline, I have also translated for arts and cultural institutions, especially in the fields of music and dance. In recent years, I worked on a series of books published by the Portuguese Parliament, on the architecture and art collection of the São Bento Palace, as well as on publications to mark the centenary of the Portuguese Republic.
