Bio
It seems I have been , bathing and wallowing in multicultural and multiligual environments since earliest my childhood. Born in Madagascar to a French father and to an English mother from Réunion, I grew up speaking French to my father and sister and English to my mother and brother. My first social interactions were at a Candian school in Japan (where learning Japanese was obligatory) attended by children from all over the planet. Being mentally buffetedby all these languages was a formative experience and perhaps the origin of my love for words.
After Japan it was off to the US, followed 5 years later by South Africa which meant learning Afrikaans and a spell learning Zulu. Fast forward another 5 years finds me in the UK where for 3 years I study architecture.
My professional career was largerly spent in France and Italy as a decorator working generally for foreign clients, which led me to translate the (Italian, French and English) explanations and related documents of the builders and architects to the clients. One thing leading to another I found myself doing more and more translating work.
Buttressing the tranlations is the fact that I am a voracious reader in both French and English and an occasional one in English.
My latest liguistic adventure will be to learn Turkish as a large amount of my time is spent in Turkey where both my wife and my small son live.
