Bio

I work as a freelance full-time technical translator (English and German to Portuguese) since end 2011. And I have been doing translations and technical writting for much longer than that. I live Germany since 2000 and I use English, German and Portuguese daily, if not hourly, in both my work and private life.

My educational background is Engineering and Science (Physics). I worked more than 15 years as either an engineer or a physicist or both. Nowadays besides translating there is some occasional but significant amount of film editing and programming in my daily schedule.

I have been translating a lot, mainly in domains like robotics, automation, medical physics, telecommunications, software (incl. code) and programming, and have done also some excursions in translations for several NGOs, official entities, so I am also at home in domains like politics, social work, human rights, etc.

Small summary:

Born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal

1996 - MS Physics, University of Lisbon, specialization Semiconductors, Solar Cells, Renewable Energies

2000-2009 Development engineer (software and hardware), including writing and translating technical documentation, industrial processes and software.

2009 - Trainer in several European countries, including writing, editing and translation of technical documentation and technical education material (telecommunications, datacom, including legacy systems and microwave transmission).

from 2011 Freelance translator and programmer.
