Bio
Hello! My name is Paola Caronni and I have been living in Asia since 1995. Presently I live in Hong Kong.
I hold a Degree in Foreign Language and Literature from the University of Milan, and thanks to my interest in languages, linguistics and different cultures I have traveling abroad quite extensively since I was quite young. I studied English, French, Spanish, and German. I approached Russian (for love of Russian literature) and I have been studying Chinese ( Mandarin) since 2009.
As I majored in English Literature (with a thesis on Hong Kong!!), this is the language I feel most confident with. Translation and interpreting need precision and accuracy, therefore I focus on this language.
Since 1998 I have been working as a Translator, Interpreter and Teacher of Italian language at Cultural Institutes both in Singapore and Hong Kong. I am also a recognized certified translator at The Italian Consulate in Hong Kong. I deal with different kinds of translations: technical, commercial, legal, etc. both from and into English.
My passions, besides writing and translating, are reading and painting. I also love swimming, yoga and pilates. For the last 12 years, I have been also very active in the Charity field, first with the Italian Women’s Group in Singapore and consequently with the Italian Women’s Association in Hong Kong. We raise funds for the disadvantaged in Hong Kong, and this is for me one of the most rewarding experiences in the hustle and bustle of a big and busy city like Hong Kong.
