Nearly USD557 million worth of IT hardware sold in Indonesia’s corporate market in last six months : GfK Indonesia
Desktop PCs make up the bulk of business purchases in both volume and value
Jakarta, 1X November 2012 – Corporations in Indonesia spent around USD557 million on some 1,150,000 units of IT hardware during the six month period from April to September 2012. According to latest GfK Indonesia results across four major IT product groups—desktop PC, laptop, monitor, and printer, the corporate sector constitute a substantial 44 and 32 percent in sales value and volume to the total IT market in the country.
GfK Indonesia have been conducting retail audit of technical consumer goods for over two decades. In April 2012, the company also commenced tracking of B2B sales in the IT sector, covering transactions from corporate customers such as government as well as small and medium businesses.
Among the four IT product groups, corporate demand was highest for desktop PCs, which chalked up 460,500 in sales volume worth slightly more than USD 300 million during the tracking period. Monitors garnered the next highest sales quantity at 425,000 units, although value wise, the laptop segment was the next biggest revenue generator, garnering more than USD158 million.
“Looking at B2B monthly sales during this period, heightened demand was registered towards the end of quarter three, attributed mainly to the rollout of government projects and also realization of projects in businesses which had been postponed in August due to Hari Raya Idul Fitri long holiday,” highlighted Mr. Guntur Sanjoyo, general manager of GfK Indonesia.
GfK findings during this tracking period reflected a stark difference in preference for computer types between the IT corporate and retail sectors. Indonesia’s end-users in general have a greater tendency to purchase laptops instead, spending close to USD516 million on 1,160,500 laptops. Desktops, on the other hand constitute a much lower proportion of the overall retail sales value and volume at 14 and 9 percent.
Total revenue sales in the two other IT product categories of monitors and printers were also largely driven by the retail sector, where consumers contributed 49 and 61 percent, as compared to the corporate sector which occupied 43 and 34 percent respectively.
“We anticipate heightened demand on the corporate front, which is common during year end, arising specifically from the government and government linked sectors,” commented Mr. Sanjoyo. “Looking ahead for 2013, it is estimated that the B2B sector will be inclined to perform well, steered by the positive investment trend in Indonesia’s private sector and the constant flow of projects in the government sector,” he concluded.

Menurut hasil penelitian GfK terbaru terhadap 4 produk utama IT seperti desktop PC, laptop, monitor, dan printer, sektor korporasi mengambil pangsa pasar sekitar 44 dan 32 persen baik nilai dan unit penjualan terhadap total pasar IT di Indonesia
GfK Indonesia telah melakukan retail audit untuk barang – barang elektronik selama lebih dari dua decade. Pada April 2012, GfK juga memulai penelitian penjualan B2B untuk sektor IT, mencakup transaksi dari konsumen korporasi seperti pemerintah sampai dengan bisnis swasta dengan skala kecil dan menengah.
Diantara 4 produk IT, permintaan tertinggi dari korporasi untuk desktop PC yang tercatat sekitar 460.500 unit penjualan atau senilai lebih dari 300 juta dolar US selama periode tersebut. Monitor mengambil jumlah penjualan tertinggi selanjutnya pada kisaran 425.000 unit, walaupun dari sisi nilai penjualan laptop menghasilkan pendapatan terbesar selanjutnya, atau mendapatkan lebih dari 158 juta dolar US.
“Melihat penjualan bulanan B2B pada periode ini, meningkatnya permintaan terhadap akhir kuarter ketiga, terutama dihasilkan dari proyek pemerintah dan juga proyek realisasi bisnis yang ditunda pada Agustus dikarenakan libur panjang hari raya Idul Fitri,” sorot Guntur Sanjoyo, general manager GfK Indonesia.
Hasil temuan GfK selama periode pelacakan mencerminkan perbedaan yang mencolok pada preferensi untuk tipe computer diantara korporasi IT dan sector retail. Konsumen Indonesia juga memiliki kecendrungan lebih besar untuk membeli laptop yang menghabiskan sekitar 516 juta dolar US untuk 1.160.500 laptop. Di sisi lain, desktop PC memiliki bagian yang lebih rendah dari nilai dan unit penjualan secara keseluruhan sekitar 14 dan 9 persen.
Total pendapatan penjualan untuk dua produk IT lainnya seperti Monitor dan Printer, secara garis besar juga berasal dari sektor retail, dimana konsumen mengkontribusikan 49 dan 61 persen ketika dibandingkan dengan sektor korporasi yang mengisi 43 dan 34 persen secara berturut – turut.
“Kami mengantisipasi tingginya permintaan korporasi yang secara umum selama akhir tahun, berasal dari pemerintah dan sektor yang berkaitan dengan pemerintahan,” komentar Bapak Sanjoyo. “Kedepannya untuk tahun 2013, diperkirakan sektor B2B akan meningkat dengan baik, yang diarahkan oleh tren investasi positif di Indonesia baik sektor swasta maupun sektor yang secara berkala berasal dari proyek pemerintah,”tutup Bapak Sanjoyo.
