Although I was born and raised in the United States, my parents are native Spanish speakers (born and raised in the country of Paraguay), and thanks to them, I began speaking Spanish from a very early age. I have over seven years of experience translating from Spanish to English and English to Spanish, and have also lived and worked in Spanish-speaking countries throughout my professional career.

I find significant translation errors in over 90% of the texts that I review (Spanish to English translations) that were translated by translation agencies or other freelance translators. The best way to avoid such errors and ensure that a translation is grammatically correct and clearly understood is by working with a translator that is a native speaker of the target language and has a high degree of specialization in the subject matter that they translate.

Additionally, in order to render the most accurate and clearly understandable translation, it takes more than simply translating a text word-for-word, while overlooking the linguistic nuances and expressions that make each language unique. Instead, for a translation to sound natural, the text must not only be translated but also adapted to the target language and the audience to which it is directed. This is the reason why I believe in the importance of specializing only in the Spanish and English languages. By doing so, I have gained the specific knowledge and extensive understanding of the idioms, regionalisms, and grammatical variants that are frequently ignored or misunderstood by translators.
