Over the past 10 years and more I have been working as a professional technical translator and feel pretty comfortable reading and writing both Japanese and English. My fields of expertise include various IT-related fields, such as certain fields of electrical and mechanical engineering, telecommunications, network engineering, computer software, digital signal processing, and so on, and a broad range of legal translation, from contracts to patents, as well as litigation matters.
Diligence is my core value, and customer satisfaction my greatest joy. I pride myself on my dedication to quality and customer satisfaction, and this is made possible by my ability to be punctual and still keep a meticulous eye on my as well as my colleagues' work. "Does this strike them as professional?" -- I keep asking myself while I work, and, to answer this self-tormenting question, I have no choice but work hard on what may seem trivial to some but really is crucial to my clients. Tools help, but I nevertheless don's spare the trouble of spending hours removing commas and placing periods, just to improve clarity, or spending hours browsing books and doing research on the Internet, just to make sure the terminology is correct. So far I have been successful in identifying what I feel comfortable sending my clients with what my clients are happy to have from me.
Presently I work virtually alone, with the help of two employees -- a patent attorney, who is also a professional translator and a meticulous proofreader of my work, and a secretary/clerk. However, knowing the value of the quality of work and the importance of investment in training, I plan, in the future, to develop our professional capacity and the quality of service by recruiting junior translators and training them well on an OJT basis over the course of several years.
You would appreciate the level of satisfaction that we enjoy giving our clients.
