Professional practices Krzysztof Śledziński endorses's Professional Guidelines (v1.1).
I am a professional translator (English-Polish and Polish-English) with vast, 8-year experience. Originally, I translated economy and philosophical books, but at the present time I specialize in legal translation. In my experience in this area I have dealt with such diverse legal documents as agreements, legal opinions, commercial register excerpts, powers of attorney or letters of intent. In light of the fact that I graduated from Faculty of Law at the University of Warsaw, I have first-hand knowledge of legal (sub)language, and for this reason I have no problems in translating complicated and specific legal documents. Also, I have professional experience as a lawyer, so I am perfectly familiar with all the requirements legal documents must fulfill in order to meet all expectations of both lawyers and clients.

Moreover, for the past three years, I have been engaged in various localization projects related to some of the most well-known mods to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. Firstly, as a member of the team that produced the MISERY mod, I was responsible for writing item descriptions, stories as well as proofreading and spellchecking (in English). Secondly, I was also a coordinator of the translation of the MISERY mod into Polish (a huge effort, encompassing more than one thousand pages) as well as one of the main translators, editor, proofreader and tester. Thirdly, I coordinated the translation process of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha video game in addition to being – similarly as above – one of the main translators, editor, proofreader and tester. Fourthly, I have created the (unofficial) Polish translation of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat video game, featuring vastly improved language, expanded dictionary and more realistic feel in comparison to the vanilla translation.

I boast complete mastery over all programs indispensable in translations (MS Office, Notepad ++, Total Commander), and am familiar with CAT software (OmegaT, memoQ, XTM), but my preference lies with SDL Trados 2017 which I use on a daily basis. I’m positive my practical experience in translating in general, and in legal and video game translation in particular, together with my flexibility, multi-tasking abilities and self-motivation would prove extremely useful in any project I am engaged in. Moreover, I enjoy working both on my own and as part of a team (including international or multicultural teams), and am more than capable of excelling in any kind of conditions, even under a lot of stress.
