In the course of a very international life, I have lived nine years in various Spanish speaking countries (in Latin America), five years in Brazil and twelve years in France. My father is British and my mother is Paraguayan. I am bilingual in English and Spanish, as well as speaking Portuguese and French fluently. My main work experience is in teaching English and translation. My experience in the field of translation began in 2012, when I worked as a senior translator, proof-reader and project manager for translations into English and Portuguese in a translation agency in San José, Costa Rica. This required communication and time management skills, both within the agency and in coordinating external translators. I honed my software skills, using the translation software, Studio. I also became proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Power Point. I also worked for two years in Paraguay at a law firm in the trademark department, handling trademark filing processes and serving as a translator of legal texts. This was a rewarding experience as all communication and follow up on cases by e-mail had to be in the client's language. This enabled me to familiarise myself with legal terminology in various languages.I have continued to accept freelance translation jobs, such as subtitles for a short film (from French into English), various company websites (from Portuguese or Spanish into English), translating and editing bios for musicians and musical acts in Lisbon, Portugal, amongst other projects. |
