Japanese-English translator/interpreter/subtitler based in Amsterdam. As a PhD candidate in Faculty of Arts, University of Leeds, work related to Art, Film, Entertainment and Culture is preferable.
Born between a Japanese mother and British father, I was brought up in Tokyo until I was 14 and have since lived in England. My bilingual abilities and bicultural experience has provided me with an understanding of cultural nuances as well as the skills to translator quickly and efficiently.
In the past few years, I have worked as a translator/interpreter for Museum of Modern Art (NYC), Tate Modern (London), Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), University of California Press, UC Berkeley, University of Vienna, McGill University, International Film Festival Rotterdam, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam and Nippon Connection. I have also worked for Japanese institutions, including Tokyo University of the Arts, the Japan Image Council (JAPIC), Vesuvius, Video Center Tokyo, SKIP City Interntional D-Cinema Festival and Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival.
