I Sandhamn finns det massor att göra året om. Aktiviteterna är lättåtkomliga och det finns något för alla. Nedan presenterar vi några förslag på vad du kan hitta på under din vistelse här på ön. Ha så kul!
Här ute kommer hösten senare och luften är varmare än på fastlandet. Ofta är det sensommarkänsla långt in i oktober. Förutom att fiska, ta härliga promenader eller en cykeltur på ön, är detta också en av de finaste perioderna att glida fram i en kajak och göra ett strandhugg på någon av grannöarna.
Vintern på Sandön är fantastisk! Här är snön kritvit och ligger tjock över grenar och tak. Känslan av att ta en skidtur bara ett par meter från vågorna som slår in går inte att beskriva. Den måste upplevas. Det går oftast alldeles utmärkt att även promenera på några av stigarna runt ön då dessa till viss del vinterunderhålls. Ryggsäck eller korg med matsäck finns att hyra på flera ställen här på ön.
När vattnet börjar värmas upp under våren gör sig strömmingen och torsken lättillgänglig från någon av bryggorna i hamnen. För den mer envise fiskaren går det alldeles utmärkt att ta en promenad runt ön och ge sig efter den något mer svårfångade havsöringen. På ön finns också en natur- och miljöslinga med frågor som passar både ung och gammal. Ett utmärkt sätt om man hellre vill få med sig lite viktig kunskap hem.
Sommaren på Sandön erbjuder långt mycket mer än bara bra shopping, god mat och festligheter i hamnen. Det finns löp- och promenadslingor för alla behov, gott om badplatser och en helt unik tallskog att utforska. Två andra fantastiska sätt att ta sig runt är med hjälp av kajak eller SUP (Stand up paddleboard).

Sandhamn offers visitors an abundance of things to do throughout the year. Everything is easy to reach and there is something for everyone. We’ll give you just a few suggestions on what to do and experience on our island. Please enjoy!
Autumn arrives a little later here and the air is warmer than on the mainland. Often you get that late-summer feel right into October. Besides fishing, wonderful walks or bicycling tours, this is also one of the nicest times of the year to take a kayak tour, paddling quietly through the water, stopping for a visit on one of the neighbouring islands.
Winter here on Sandhamn is incredible. The crisp snow lies white and thick on trees and rooftops. The feeling you get skiing just a few feet from the waves is almost indescribable. You just have to experience it. Or why not go hiking or walking on one of the many trails that are maintained in winter too? Several places on the island offer backpacks or even picnic baskets to rent.
Once the water begins to get warmer in the spring, the time is ideal for fishermen to fish for herring and cod from the docks and piers dotting the island. If you are a more serious fisherman, this is the perfect time to hike the island to find a spot to go after the wily, tough-to-catch sea trout. If you want to learn more about the island and its surroundings, take a nature walk through the forests and trails, peppered with signs providing questions and answers for young and old alike.
When you visit Sandön (Sand Island) in the summer, you will enjoy much more than just shopping, great food and the festivities in the harbour. There are plenty of running and walking trails, beaches and thick pine forests to explore. Or why not rent a kayak to explore the coastline, or give a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) a try?
Here’s a list of some of the activities and equipment available through your hotel or one of the guides to Sandhamn. The maps show you where to find the trails. We would also recommend downloading the Sandhamn app available from Google Play or the App Store. It only costs SEK 7 and it gives you more information about the island, along with a list of guided tours.

Vi är ett välrenommerat kunskapsföretag inom IT-branschen. Visionen är att Candidator är en nordisk IT-partner som är erkänd för att leverera en Overkligt bra kundupplevelse. Vi är en av Västsveriges större aktörer när det gäller IT-outsourcing. Vi är fokuserade på att leverera trygghet och kvalitet till våra kunder. Vi finns etablerade med sammanlagt fem driftshallar med en samlad yta om drygt 1 100 kvadratmeter. Alla är utrustade med redundant precisionskyla, UPS, reservkraftverk, släckutrustning, skalskydd, övervakning, driftslarm och redundanta anslutningar till alla större nätoperatörer. Denna information kan också nås via en kund- och användarspecifik kundportal, se bilaga 4 – iPortal - Kundportal för ärenden, dokumentation, driftstatus och rapportering. Här finns SLA-rapporter med många nedbrytningsmöjligheter som ger underlag för proaktiva förbättringsaktiviteter som vi aktivt driver tillsammans med respektive kund via vår samverkansorganisation.
Vi har lång erfarenhet från IT-branschen och arbetar med produkter från ledande leverantörer. Vi är bland annat certifierad Gold Hosting Partner till Microsoft, Preferred Partner till HP, Silver Partner till Citrix och Cisco Select Partner, kvalitetsbetyg som vi är stolta över.
Sist men inte minst satsar vi mycket på våra medarbetare. Kompetens och engagemang är två mycket viktiga värderingar. Utbildning i olika former är därför helt avgörande. We are a highly reputable knowledge-based company in the Swedish IT industry. Our vision is for Candidator to develop into a Nordic IT business partner with a reputation for providing clients with an Unbelievable customer experience. Since we opened our doors in 1997 we have relied mostly on an organic growth strategy although in April 2014, we completed a strategic acquisition in the Stockholm region. We have always succeeded in creating positive growth backed by solid financial stability. Today, Candidator is home to 85 staff members and generates revenues of SEK 150 million. The company’s head office is located in Alingsås which is where most of the employees work. There are two offices in the Stockholm area, one in Täby and the other in downtown Stockholm. We also have two smaller offices in Vara and Umeå .
Our basic philosophy has always been to generate solid long-term client relationships based on mutual trust and confidence. This is the key to satisfying customers and has proven to be one of the reasons for the success and growth of our company. We are one of the largest outsourcers of IT in western Sweden. Our goal is to provide our customers with the highest level of surety and quality as possible. We have a total of five IT facilities covering just over 1,100 square metres. Each one is equipped with redundant precision cooling, UPS (uninterupptible power supply), an emergency power unit, fire extinguishing equipment, shell protection , monitoring, operational alarms, and redundant connections to all major network servers. Our main facility in Alingsås is one of the few in Sweden with RÖS (interference-elimination protection) (fully encapsulated in steel to protect against electromagnetic disturbances). Whenever necessary due to capacity or costs, we also avail ourselves of cloud services to complement our own facilities. A key component in our operation is a system developed within Candidator called Cento. Cento is a comprehensive case management and follow-up system. Read about Cento in Appendix 3 – Cento Case Management. In Cento, we register all customer interactions and all customer-specific operating information. This information can also be accessed via a customer- and user-specific customer portal - the Iportal (refer to Appendix 4 ) – a customer portal for all case management, documentation, operating status and reporting. This contains SLA reports with a variety of options broken down to provide basic information describing proactive improvement activities. We run these activities in conjunction with each individual customer through our cooperation organisation.
We are highly experienced in the IT business and rely on products from leading suppliers. For example, we are a certified Gold Hosting partner with Microsoft, a Preferred Partner with HP, a Silver Partner with Citrix and a Cisco Select Partner, recognitions of quality of which we are extremely proud.
Last but not least, we invest heavily in our employees. Their know-how and commitment are critical and therefore to us training and education are of decisive importance. We also believe that employee involvement is critical to fostering commitment and for that reason we invest a great deal of time and effort in employee participation. We do this by allowing our staff to participate in developing our vision and strategies as well as in our product development work. I am a Canadian and lived and worked in Sweden as a translator (Swedish to English) and writer for 16 years (1974-1990). During that time I worked for companies such as Saab, Volvo, Atlas Copco, SAS airlines on-board magazine (for which I also acted as editor) and many more. I also did voice-over one of which was for a SAS on-board film.
I was the head translator for the Wasa museum, for instance, for two years.
I also translated most types of documents for companies throughout Sweden including technical manuals, business documents, restaurant menus, boat catalogues, the Swedish Tobacco Act, and much more besides. I translated the autobiography of then SAS chief executive Jan Carlzon - Moments of Truth.
I worked with Saab on the catalogue for the Saab 9000.
A number of major and mid-range corporations used me to translate their annual reports as well as other reports.
I wrote for the wire services, twice covering the Nobel Prizes. I was also the Scandinavian foreign correspondent for the Columbia Radio Network for two years. MacLean’s magazine is Canada’s Time magazine and I worked as their correspondent in Sweden.
We moved to Canada and I continued to translate from there. However, I was hired as the PR director for a major professional sports team. I handled all the writing and editorial work. I expanded into other businesses including copywriting, creating website content and writing news releases for a wide range of different companies.
