About me

A Brazilian native from Rio de Janeiro, I grew up in a bilingual environment (both American and Australian relatives). I studied English all my life and, later, became a licensed teacher of English and Portuguese from Universidade Federal Fluminense. Besides that. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, being licensed in Journalism from PUC-Rio.
I started my career as a journalist. I worked mainly in corporate communication, especially at the Brazilan Securities Analysts' Association, where I began learning about finance and securities. And also at a company that changed my life, Companhia do Texto. There, we had to compile information and write at incredible speed, with great accuracy, summaries of topics of interest for top executives from multinational corporations. Those included electricity, oil & gas, IT, and many others. Can you smell how translating came as a natural result from the sum of my experiences?

As a teacher, I had the chance of improving my knowledge of both languages. I used to prepare students for their English proficiency exams required to join Masters and Ph.D. programs. I also prepared students for international proficiency exams, like TOEFL, Michigan, and IELTS.

At that point, I had already started doing my first translation jobs.

It was no easy task! My first job was a whole international negotiation between Angola and Australia. I had to learn (quickly) about diamond extraction, geology, foreign policies and a lot of legal terms. However, I loved the challenge.

One day, it all came together. Corporate, Legal, Finance & Securities. Add that to my linguistic interests and a love for new challenges and you'll get a translator in the making.

So, I decided it was time to delve deeper into translation. I started to provide services for translation agencies in Brazil and tried to broaden my horizons.

When I decided to become a full-time translator, I decided it would be a good idea to have some in-house experience and learn Cat Tools, proper research, the works. It's to be expected that during these many years I also included some other areas to my fields of knowledge.

However, my next big adventure would be interpretation. It felt like translation os steroids. Of course, as a deep believer in continued education, I pursued proper training and now, even though I can't say I got rid of the butterflies in my stomach, it feels like a good rush of adrenaline.

For details about the services I provide, the tabs above provide further insight into different areas and services. My resume is available upon request.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my profile.
