I earned a B.A in Arabic Language and Literature and Comparative Literature and Translation from the University of Texas at Austin, where my senior thesis was a partial translation of an Arabic novel into English. Following graduation, I spent a year studying Arabic with the Center for Arabic Study Abroad at the American University in Cairo. I have extensive experience in Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, and a working familiarity with Gulf Colloquial Arabic.
I have translated legal documents and business correspondence for an Austin-based investment firm, provided linguistic support for a legal case involving Arabic-speaking clients, conducted research in Arabic, and proofread English-language articles on language pedagogy written by native Arabic speakers. |
