English to Spanish: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus / Lupus Eritematoso Sistémico General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)
Source text - English Systemic lupus erythematosus, often abbreviated as SLE or lupus, is a systemic autoimmune disease (or autoimmune connective tissue disease) that can affect any part of the body. As occurs in other autoimmune diseases, the immune system attacks the body's cells and tissue, resulting in inflammation and tissue damage. It is both a type II and a type III hypersensitivity reaction in which bound antibody-antigen pairs (immune complexes) precipitate and cause a further immune response.
SLE most often harms the heart, joints, skin, lungs, blood vessels, liver, kidneys, and nervous system. The course of the disease is unpredictable, with periods of illness (called flares) alternating with remissions. The disease occurs nine times more often in women than in men, especially in women in child-bearing years ages 15 to 35, and is also more common in those of non-European descent.
Spanish to English: Algoritmos Genéticos / Gentic Algorithms General field: Science Detailed field: Computers (general)
Translation - English An algorithm is a series of organized steps which describe a process to be followed to give a solution to a particular problem. In the 70's, from the mind of John Henry Holland, emerged one of the most promising lines of research in Artificial Intelligence: Genetic Algorithms. They were named like this because they were inspired by biological evolution and its genetic/molecular base. These algorithms make a population of individuals evolve by subjecting it to random actions similar to those that act on biological evolution (mutations and genetic recombinations), they also perform selection according to specified criteria that determines which are the most fit individuals, the ones that will survive, and which are less fit, those that will be discarded.

Bio
Hello!
Thank you for stopping by and I hope I am the kind of person you're looking for your translation jobs. I'm a young man in my late 20's with a passion for learning and research. This is what drove me into getting my degrees: B.S. in Physics Engineering (with honorable mention), M.Sc. in Intelligent Systems (with excellence mention) and I'm currently pursuing my Ph.D. in Intelligent Systems as well. Both of my parents are medical doctors, which motivated me into pursuing a career in General Science and I also took an interest in the Medical Sciences. I was raised in the border between Mexico and the US, so learning English as a second language was greatly encouraged, and having the chance of practicing often since I was little helped me hone my skills quickly. Since Elementary school I've been translating information to do homework, help my parents out, and after High School, to study my career and perform research. In College I helped out in proof-reading and grading works in Spanish and English, were I was in charge of checking grammar and spelling. I also helped out as a Tutoring Assistant and Research Assistant.
Thank you very much for reading my profile and if you'd like to know anything else, don't hesitate to contact me.
