I am a 100% native American English speaker from the United States who started learning Spanish in middle school and French in college. I started and continued my language studies to learn more about other cultures and to become a better person. As time passed, I found being multilingual to be an expansion of my identity. This became especially true after I studied abroad in Paris and Bilbao, Spain and spent a lot of my free time in college hanging out with native speaking teaching assistants.

I find translation to be a bridge between cultures and groups within the same subject matter, task, or profession. I learned this first hand as a legal document reviewer when I discovered that most of my colleagues were monolingual and witnessed its potentially adverse effects on their performance.

As both a self and academically-taught businessman (year of business/accounting coursework at Mary Baldwin College and nearly a year of business/accounting coursework at Germanna Community College), I believe that business is the building of relationships.
