50年代初,杨鸿勋在参加全国古建筑普查时,就对秦始皇陵做过研究。他发现陵墓封土堆的巨大坡体上,隐约可见台阶的遗迹,当时他推测,封土堆上应该有过多层建筑。他的推测从一张更早的照片中进一步得到证实。
Translation - English [The Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor]
In the early 1950s, Yang Hongxun began to study and research on the mausoleum when he was participating in an National Inspection Survey of Ancient Architecture. He found out that there was a big slope on top of the mausoleum and some step relics which made him assume that there should have been a multi-step building above the mausoleum. And the presumption then got proved by photos that has been taken early.
