Background and Education
Born in London, I lived in Southern England until I was fourteen when my family moved to Ireland. I later went to university in St Andrews in Scotland and studied English Literature, French and Spanish. I spent a year abroad in Ecuador and an Erasmus term abroad in Barcelona as part of my degree. I specialised in Spanish completing modules in Translation, Literature, Cinema, Latin American Studies and History graduating with an M.A. (Hons) 2:1 with a Distinction in Spoken Spanish.
After graduation I lived in Ecuador for three years, working as a university teacher and carrying out freelance translation work. This ranged from certificates to environmental reports and various academic documents.
On returning to Ireland I worked in the Heritage and Media sector for a number of years as a content manager and writer, mainly working on museum exhibitions in Ireland and the UK.
More recently I have been working as a writer and freelancing in confidential audio transcription for a legal firm as well as carrying out Spanish to English translation.
While my studies and time spent living in Spanish speaking countries ensure I am fluent in the nuances of the language, my written English, grammar and presentation are of a very high level. Clients can be sure of thorough, accurate work completed to the highest standard and on schedule. I am keen to work on a variety of projects from Spanish into English.
