Brazilian-born, I have been working as a freelance translator (English-Portuguese) for 10 years, translating academic texts and abstracts in different subject areas (Business, Architecture, Pedagogy, Social Science, Dentistry, Medicine, Law, Philosophy, among others). Besides my work with translation, I have been working as a teacher and a lecturer of English for 21 years on various language courses, in schools, and universities in Brazil. In the last couple of years, I have had the opportunity to travel to different English-speaking countries, as well as other European countries, through the organization of two language study programs, in London and Toronto, for Brazilian university students.
I graduated in Fine Arts, specialized in English Language Studies, and achieved a Master’s degree in Language Acquisition Studies. Parallel to my graduation and post-graduation education, I have also had the opportunity to take two language and culture courses abroad, one at International House, London, UK and another at Indiana State University, Indiana, USA. I have just concluded a 143 hours course in Conference Interpretation and I am currently perfecting my translation skills through a 180h translation course.
I lived in the US (Memphis, Tennessee) for two years, where I attended school, learned English and experienced American culture. The time living in the US has connected me to the English language giving me opportunities to work as a translator, a teacher, and a lecturer in Brazil.
