Spanish to English: Interview about the Dakar race General field: Other Detailed field: Advertising / Public Relations
Source text - Spanish . Muy bien, muy bien. Gracias.
. Muchas gracias a vosotros.
Translation - English . Very well, very well. Thank you.
. Well, this race is the hardest in the world and the most important on all-terrain. In my house, the fortnight that Dakar lasts has always been treated as something special. I have been been participating in 4 x 4 excursions through Morocco and Tunisia for more than 20 years... and I followed the Dakar when it was held in Africa on various occasions. I knew the race well before going, but the truth is that it turned out to be much more difficult than I thought.
. In reality, you're preparing yourself for the whole year. I, as a co-driver, prepare myself, above all, mentally, because you know that you are not going to sleep much, that you are going to get hungry and that there will be times when you will feel like quitting. These moments are the ones that you need to overcome… You remember your family, your friends and all those that are following the race through the news or on the Internet. Thesponsors also help you to overcome these situations because they have put their confidence in you and you don't want to disappoint them.
. Being a co-driver is more difficult than being a driver; there is lots of responsibility. You give all of the information of the race to the driver: the location of the cross roads, the dangers of the tour...you track the car-milage... You can't be distracted for even a second! This includes, pointing out that we need to drink water every thirty minutes. If there is a breakdown or puncture, I always need to fix it. The truth is that, being a co-driver, requires a lot of work.
. Well yeah, because we were preparing for the race all year, the car that we brought has turned out to be very good and we have passed the second stage, which was the hardest in the whole rally. A rock punctured our water cooler and, without temperature regulation, the engine couldn't hold up. At any rate, we want to take part again. Now we are looking for sponsors and, in the meantime, we are participating in competitions like the "Campeonato de España”.
. Thank you all very much.

Shortly after noon the contractions began. Perhaps due to the festivities and emotions, the arrival of her first child at 37 years of age came a week earlier than the date predicted by the gynecologist. Ana was checked into the maternity ward of the Great Hospital of the state, now called the University Princess Hospital, on the corner of Diego de León and Francisco Silvela, as they had planned. It was a perfect delivery. Leo and Ana's first and only son was born at 16.22 hours and weighed 3.900 kilograms. Influenced by the euphoria of that magical day they decided that the boy would be called Alegría instead of Borja, which was the name that Ana and her friends had insisted on after countless quarrels with Leo, who preferred Ismael. That afternoon Leo went fearfully to the civil registration office. This was primarily because the name was clearly a provocation and, furthermore, generally feminine. But the happiness continued when when the mention of the name was met with a smile from the civil servant.
