On a dú passer une nuit a Padang et ensuite on a prit le bateau le lendemain apres-midi.
J'étais surpris en fait que ca soit un bateau comme ca, vachement luxueux on est arrivé les indo ils nous attendaient en tenus et tout, tout de blanc.
On était tous un peu fatigué et tout mais content, les prévisions étaient super bonnes. Tout le monde attendais impatiemment d'arriver au spot
Apres la traversée on était tous fatigué du voyage, on a fait une nuit sur le bateau et le lendemain matin plus personne ne pensait au décalage horaire. On est arrive a Ishti y'avait, y'avait 2m50 et y'avais personne a l'eau.
Mais dans le contexte en fait on s'est tapé 24h d'avion, 12h de traversée en bateau dans des petites cabines et tu t' réveilles, premier surf t'as les jambes engourdies.
T'as pas forcément envie non plus de te blesser le premier jour
En générale c'qu'est bien quand t'arrive au Mentawai c'est d'arriver et de faire une petite session tranquille… Se dégourdir les jambes quoi. La on est tomber quand même direct sur une des meilleures sessions du trip
C'était un peu chaud mais si t'attendais la bonne, la grosse qui doublait un peu, ca allait tranquille le take-off, après dans le bol ca creusait donc ca allait.
Sancho il était incroyable dans les tubes, il, le sensé du tube c'était incroyable
Première session on était tous la un peu hésitant et tout et lui il est arrivé, direct il s'est mis au pique. Bon il a un peu raguasser et tout mais bon.
J'pensais que Sancho il allait plus raguasser que ca sur le trip justement. J'pensais qu'il allait vraiment vraiment raguasser raguasser et en fait non il.. Il attendait la bombe et il a pas raguasser ouais. Ca m'a étonné.
C'est lui qu'a fait le plus de tube du trip et… et le plus gros tube aussi
Maca depuis tout petit j'rêvais d''y surfer j'voyais les vidéos, tout ca ca m'donnait envie d'surfer la-bas.
C'est la vague qu'ils ont vu dans toutes les vidéos depuis que, depuis qu'ils sont gamins donc euh ils avaient envie d'aller la-bas, voir ce qu'ils pouvaient faire, reproduire ce que faisait leurs idoles.
Avec les tremblements de terre le reef s'est, s'est un peu surélevé et la vague elle est un peu différente, y'a toujours un joli tube au début de la vague mais a la fin c'est, c'est moins tendu et elle est un peu moins longue et ca finit vraiment sur les coraux a sec.

I was surprised, actually, at the boat, it was so luxurious. We arrived and the Indonesians were waiting for us all dressed up, all in white.
We were all a bit tired, but happy. The forecast was really good, everyone was impatient to get to the spot.
After the crossing we were all tired from the trip, we had a night on the boat and the next morning nobody was thinking about the jetlag. We got to Ishti and there was 2m50 and no-one in the water
In fact we had a 24h plane trip, a 12h boat ride in small cabins and then you wake up for the first surf and your legs are numb.
You don't really want to get hurt on the first day.
Normally it's good when you get to Mentawai to get there and have a quiet little session… Strech your legs. But we got there and straight away found one of the best session of the trip
It was a bit dodgy but if you waited for the set, the set that doubled a bit, the take-off was smooth, after that the tube opened up wide so it was going well.
Sancho was incredible in the tubes, his sense for the tube was incredible.
The first session we were all a bit hesitant and he got there and straight away he went to the peak. I mean he dropped in front of us a bit but anyway.
Actually I thought Sancho would cut us up more than he did. I thought he would get out in front but no, he… He was waiting for the bomb and he didn't drop in. I was surprised.
He did the most tubes in the trip and… and also the biggest tube.
Maca was the one I've dreamt of surfing since I was really young, I saw the videos... they made me want to surf it.
It's the wave they saw in all those videos since they were kids so they really wanted to go there, to see what they could do, copy what their idols were doing.
With the earthquakes the reef was a little raised and the wave was a bit different, there was still a nice tube at the beginning but, at the end, it's not as tight, not as long and it ends straight on the corals.
