General field: Bus/Financial Detailed field: IT (Information Technology)
п.), которую IT-
Translation - English Under the term ''the breadth of vertical IT integration'' the author means the share (number) of IT services (equipment maintenance, network administration services, development and support of program systems, etc.) left from outsourcing and rendered by IT services of the enterprise themselves.
Under the term ''the depth of vertical IT integration'' the author means the correlation (ratio) of tasks fulfilled by internal resources and tasks fulfilled through outsourcing (''upward'' or ''backward'') for the specific IT service (type of operation).
When allocating significant resources for IT projects implementation, many managers do not understand the real grounds for its launch. Business managers in the eastern part of Europe in general and in Russia in particular usually take a dim view of the necessity to pay much attention to information technologies and deem them as the source of expenditures rather than new opportunities for the business. Manager’s unwillingness to understand the expediency of one or another initiative form relevant mood in the whole company, too. As a result, many companies do not bother to prepare detailed justification of projects or treat it too formally: they do not assess the real demands of the business and do not formulate any real goals, whose achievement would signify successful implementation of the project. Vague idea of the advantages the company could get upon its completion and lack of any specific goals leads, for example, to the following: 70% of all projects related to CRM roll out do not have the desired impact on business. When the company’s management does not have any ideas of the real goals of the project, it cannot define any definite priorities of introduction, and this circumstance leads to another unconsoling factor: up to 40% of purchased software remains unclaimed.
