Born and raised in Costa Rica from U.S. parents, I had the privilege of growing up with two mother languages: English (learned naturally from an English-exclusive home and at school), and Spanish (learned naturally out in the "real world" with friends -and also at school).

During all my life, I was continually invited to churches or other organizations to interpret. Also, I worked with Language Line Services, for many years, as one of four Senior Language Specialists, supervising and coaching a group of 43 people with over-the-phone consecutive interpreting.

To be a great interpreter and translator, it is definitely a plus to have learned (as a child) both languages simultaneously, as well as both cultures (which most people don't have the wonderful privilege of experiencing firsthand).
