Bio

I am a CIOL-accredited translator and interpreter
with four years of experience working predominantly in Arabic with academic and
legal texts, most recently the forthcoming translation of Azmi Bishara’s at-Ta’ifa,
at-Ta’ifiyya wa’t-Tawa’if al-Mutakhayyila
(Hurst Oxford, English title Sectarianism
Without Sects
). Alongside written Arabic I am also very familiar with
Levantine and other spoken dialects and have been involved in several
subtitling projects – most notably for the 2017 Sharja Biennale and the 2018
World Cup – and am proficient with subtitling software. I have also tutored in
Arabic and English and produce learning materials for Levantine Arabic online
(available at
http://teammaha.com/). I am currently writing a grammar of Levantine Arabic
aimed at advanced learners.
