Bio
Oasis Dental in Milton is now proud to be offering consultation and treatment for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). OSA is the severe restriction or even closing of the airway during sleep. Because OSA happens during sleep, it is common for patients to be unaware of a problem. Therefore, if you wake up feeling unrested, it is suggested you come to Oasis Dental for a consultation.

OSA cannot be diagnosed in a dental office, but Oasis Dental doctor’s have the training and experience to get you referred to a sleep specialist who can help determine if you have a need for a dental sleep apnea appliance to help treat OSA. Dr. Rick Soordhar and Dr. Vick Soordhar have specialized training in recognizing the symptoms and risk factors for sleep apnea in adults and children.

Risk factors of OSA in adults include old age, excessive weight, alcohol, tranquilizer or sedative use, smoking and nasal congestion. Children with narrow and small jaws, or chronic tonsil or adenoid illnesses are at a greater risk of developing sleep apnea.

Symptoms of OSA include excessive daytime sleepiness, loud snoring, waking with a dry mouth or sore throat, morning headaches, difficulty staying asleep and attention problems in adults. In children, OSA has been linked to behavioral problems like ADHD and hyperactivity. There are also studies that suggest sleep walking, sleep talking, and bedwetting may also be signs of OSA.

If you are interested in learning more about Obstructive Sleep Apnea and the treatments associated with it please feel free to contact the clinical team at Oasis Dental. Our team is a highly skilled dental team and will be happy to help you evaluate your sleep issues and come up with a solution to help correct the OSA you are suffering from.
