Portuguese to English: Description of Graphic Design piece General field: Art/Literary
Translation - English This work is a commentary on the scientific nature (or not) of the creative process in graphic design. Using editorial design analysis software, we try to deconstruct questions such as the role of intuition in the design process and more concretely its role in the composition and design on the page. Scientific methods for numeric data collection are used in order to then translate this data into abstract images that bear little or no visual resemblance to the originals. In design, the search to create something new feeds on this conflict – symbolised by this piece – between understanding what you are doing and then jumbling everything up again.
