I'm a translator and proofreader, based in Faringdon in Oxfordshire, and I run Tinta Viva Translation, an independent Spanish to English translation business with particular specialisms in social sciences, public policy and research, city planning and urban design, urban policy and regeneration, international development and the environment. Tinta Viva also offers literary translation of journalism, fiction and non-fiction prose, as well as translation of personal and family documents. In addition to my commercial work, I am a proud pro bono translator for a number of international organisations.

Tinta Viva is dedicated to providing translations that are intelligent, targeted and precise, that don't feel like translations at all. I became a translator because I love languages, writing, and musing over ideas and meanings. I absolutely love what I do, and it is important to me that my work is of the highest possible standard.

I have a strong academic background in the social sciences - I studied Geography as an undergraduate at Cambridge and hold an MPhil in Environment, Society and Development and an MSc in City Planning and Regeneration. Having worked in social research and higher education fundraising, I have a good understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods and associated documents, and with funding applications and campaign materials.

I am a fully qualified translator (IoLET Level 7 Diploma in Translation), an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and the Institute of Translation and Interpreting.

Please see my website,, to find out more and view a portfolio of sample work, or send me an email; I'd be delighted to hear from you.
