Source text - English Building Resilience to External Shocks and Demand for Fruit & Vegetable (BRAND F&V)
BRAND F&V is a 5-year (2015-2020) $16.1 M sustainable economic growth project designed to increase competitiveness of the fruit and vegetable sector in three central coastal provinces of Vietnam (Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam and Da Nang). The project will facilitate linkages between buyers and producers to increase the supply of fresh, safe and high quality produce in the 3 provinces. The approach will be buyer-driven, whereby the project will work with supermarkets, hotels, restaurants and processors to identify market opportunities for higher quality fruit and vegetables. Smallholder producers and their cooperatives will then be provided with technical support to meet buyers’ demands. Up to 15,000 primary smallholder producers (female/male and youth) and their cooperatives will participate based on their willingness to produce fruit and vegetables compliant with good agricultural practice (VietGAP) and, also, take part in a locally focused quality assurance system; namely, a participatory guarantee system (PGS).
Translation - French Préparation aux bouleversements économiques et à la demande dans le marché des fruits et légumes (BRAND F&V)
BRAND F&V est un projet de croissance économique durable de 16,1 millions de dollars et de 5 années (de 2015 à 2020) dont l’objectif est d’accroître la compétitivité du marché des fruits et légumes de 3 provinces côtières du centre du Vietnam (Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam et Da Nang). Le projet favorisera les échanges entre les acheteurs et les producteurs afin d’augmenter l’offre de fruits et de légumes frais, sains et de qualité supérieure dans les 3 provinces. La stratégie est axée sur les consommateurs: on travaillera avec les supermarchés, les hôtels, les restaurants et les centres de transformation pour trouver les débouchés du marché de fruits et de légumes de qualité. Dans le but de répondre à la demande, on introduira des innovations techniques dans les coopératives des petits producteurs. Quelque 15 000 petits producteurs (des femmes, des hommes et des jeunes) et leurs coopératives participeront en produisant des fruits et des légumes conformes aux bonnes pratiques agricoles (VietGAP) ainsi qu’en prenant part à un système d’assurance de la qualité dans leur communauté, c’est-à-dire un système participatif de garantie (SPG).
