Bio
I am a bilingual translator and writer (Arabic and English).

My work in international organizations and the media media spans 30 years, during which I was employed by the BBC Arabic-language television in London, Al-Arabiya television in Cairo, the International Committee of the Red Cross in Cairo, the Al-Ahram newspaper in Cairo, and Cairo University, among others.

I currently live in Washington D.C., doing translation and research for the American University in Washington, and translation and interpretation for the US Department of State on contract basis.

My academic background is in economics (Cairo University) and urban planning (Cornell University).

I wrote extensively about politics and social life in the Middle East, and a collection of my writings appeared in Breakfast with the Infidels (Dar Merit, 2006).

I worked as a translator and journalist in Cairo, London, Cyprus, and the USA.
