First of all, I only translate into my native language, German.
I actually received a degree in Technical Translation (English, Spanish, Engineering) from the University in Hildesheim, Germany, way back in 1996.
For the following 20 years I worked in corporate communications in large international listed companies. Internal communication, websites, Intranets, Media Relations, Investor Relations, Marketing, Advertising - I covered all these fields, always in German and English. I especially worked in financial reporting in the financial industry, pharma and engineering.
In 2016 I moved to in Tucson, Arizona and ever since concentrated on subtitling English and Spanish video content in German. I also write German audiodescriptions.
I work with a range of agency-specific subtitling software as well as Subtitle Edit and Subtitle Next. The formats I have most experience in are featurettes, documentaries, TV series, and tutorials.
Lastly, even if it should not be worth mentioning, I translate everything myself. Nothing is passed on to third parties, and no machine translation is ever involved.
