My name is Helen. I graduated from English department of Soochow University. My friends always told me that I am a frank person. Whenever I stay with them, they feel easy and relaxed. Also, I am a perceptual and attentive girl. I love expressing my thoughts by writing diary.
I learned a lot during the college life, especially critical thinking and make an oral presentation. In every piece of literature works, I was enlightened by the meanings behind the story. It was not only broaden my horizon but made me think, express and make comments.
Meanwhile, I made a lot of presentation in English DEP. By giving an oral presentation, I can not only make the eye-catching slides but express my idea more smoothly and clearly. Moreover, I took many translation courses including sight interpretation and business topic of translation. I learned lots of translation skills and knew how to translate the original text without mistakes. Translating is not easy but interesting. I really enjoy the process when translating texts and believe it will become the useful tool in the future.
In addition to studying, I also have a variety of experiences in clubs, being the volunteer and intern. I served as the volunteer in ICAE office of SCU this semester. I am responsible for assisting exchange students in handling academic matters or other difficulties in their life. Being a volunteer make me feel pleased and satisfied for I can improve interpersonal relationship and find my own advantages. Apart from being the volunteer, I was a cadre in dormitory association.
As a cadre in dorm, I had to protect and supervise the rights of all students and interact with them enthusiastically. After a year of training, I learned how to organize an activity, write a complete and clear meeting minute, and design the poster. In my experience of being a cadre and volunteer, I think communicating is a vital factor when trying to handle problems and keep good relationship with others. Two years ago, I took the part time job at Taoyuan County Government during summer vacation. This special experience made me learn how the public sector works. Also, I had opportunities to join press conferences and other activities. I think I learned a lot at public sector, especially interact with people. No matter which the public or private sector, react-decently is the most important thing when we try to listen or communicate with others.
During four years of college life, I gain a lot of knowledge on translation and literature; at the same time, extracurricular activities give me the opportunities to discover my value and improve communicating skills when facing disagreements. Although I am not familiar with knowledge of national defense and technology, I believe the abundant experiences will help me a lot when doing tasks. Also, keeping the curious heart toward everything and learning from others is necessary.
