CV/Resume French (PDF)

While other ten-year-old boys pursued more conventional leisure
activities, such as judo, I spent Wednesday afternoons writing lines of code on
my computer, or even on paper. My shelves were lined with magazines like
Sciences et Vie and books by Jules Verne, and because of these specialist
interests I always believed my future lay in technology. But I didn’t neglect
other subjects at school, and particularly liked English, which I’d been using
for years in my programming.

I wanted to turn a passion into a vocation, so I did a doctorate in science
and IT. During the latter part of my studies, I spent my spare time doing logic
and maths puzzles, and took part in national maths competitions. I practised
for these when I wasn’t writing my thesis, a detailed analysis of a
mathematical theory, written in English, which I translated into computer
language. As a result I spent many hours reading English, which made me like it

I described myself as a “bilingual scientist” in my first interview for
a post as an IT development research engineer. I loved my new job, and the many
specialist writing projects, working to a deadline, alone or in a team. Above
all, I enjoyed writing reports in English and videoconferencing with
English-speaking clients.

English is now an integral part of my job. My love of bilingual
communication was strengthened not by acquiring new expertise, nor
by a new hobby, but by meeting a translator and interpreter who was passionate
about her profession. After twelve years with a leading IT company, I’ve chosen
a new path by making my skills as a translator in IT, science, mechanics, and
mathematics available to other companies.

May the force be with you!
